Privacy policy

Gleam Audio has no servers, no accounts and no telemetry. Your data stays on your computer, and nothing about it is ever sent to us.

The short version

Gleam Audio collects nothing. There is no account to create, no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising. We operate no server that your copy of the app talks to, so there is no data for us to hold, sell or lose.

What we collect

Nothing. To be specific, Gleam Audio contains no sign-in, no unique install identifier, no usage or event tracking, no crash or error reporting, no advertising, and no third-party analytics or marketing SDKs.

If you buy a license, Dodo Payments takes the payment as merchant of record. They share your name, email and order with us so we can help with your license. Their own privacy policy covers the checkout.

What stays on your computer

  • Your audio files, which are only read and written where you choose.
  • Your settings, such as where results go and the app's look.
  • How many files you processed this week, and your license key if you added one. These are kept in the app's data folder, and on macOS and Windows in the system keychain too.

When Gleam Audio uses the network

Your audio never leaves your computer. The app makes only these connections, and none of them passes through us.

  • Update check. The app asks static.gleamaudio.com, served by Cloudflare, whether a newer release exists. Version 1.1.1 and earlier ask static.purplecandy.dev, also served by Cloudflare. The request carries no identifier for you.
  • License check. Only if you add a license key. The app sends the key to Dodo Payments when you activate it, each time the app opens, and when you remove it. With it goes a name for the computer that only says which system it runs, like "Gleam Audio on a Mac". Nothing about your files is sent.

This website and the downloads

This site is a set of static files served by Cloudflare. Cloudflare keeps standard request logs, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.

The site uses Google Analytics to count visits. It records the pages you view, where you came from, your browser and device, and your rough location. It also notes when you follow a link to another site or download a file. It sets cookies named _ga that last one day, so each visitor counts once per day. It doesn't store your IP address. Google signals and ad features are off, so Google doesn't link these visits to your Google account or use them for ads. The script and its data go through purplecandy.dev first, and Cloudflare passes them on to Google. Google stores this data and keeps it for 2 months. The app itself has no analytics.

Release downloads are served from static.gleamaudio.com by Cloudflare, which keeps the same standard request logs.

Your data rights

The app holds no personal data, which leaves nothing for us to produce or erase. Everything the app knows about you is on your own disk, where you can open, copy and delete it yourself. The website's analytics are counted per day, are not tied to your name or email, and are deleted after 2 months.

Gleam Audio is not directed at children, and collects no data from anyone regardless of age.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it, and anything material is noted in the changelog on the home page. A feature that ever sends data anywhere new will be described here, and will be something you opt into.
