Run this in a terminal to install it for your user:

curl -fsSL https://static.gleamaudio.com/gleam-audio/releases/latest/download/install.sh | bash

Or download a file below and install it by hand.

Windows packages are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will ask you to confirm: More info, then Run anyway. Every file has a checksum in SHA256SUMS.

Hear the difference

0:00 / 0:20
A voice recorded next to loud background noise. Press play, then switch toWith Remove noise while it plays.

Record anywhere and sound like you were in a studio. Gleam Audio takes out fans, hum, traffic and room noise, and keeps your voice clear and natural. Then it levels, trims and converts the result in the same window, and it never touches your original files.

Everything your audio needs, in one app

Remove background noise in one click

Fans, hum, traffic, a buzzing fridge: gone. A deep learning model trained on human speech keeps your voice and drops everything else. Dial the strength back when you want to keep a touch of the room.

Get the right volume, every time

Pick where your audio is going, a podcast, an audiobook, music streaming or broadcast, and Gleam Audio evens out the volume to the level that place expects. It clears away the low rumble mics pick up from desks and traffic too.

Cut out the parts you don’t need

See your recording as a picture of the sound, so silences, coughs and mistakes are easy to spot. Drag two handles and keep only what’s between them.

Split long recordings into pieces

Turn a long session into episodes, chapters or clips. Mark where each part starts, or split evenly into as many parts as you need, then play any part to check it before you save.

Convert to any format

Save as mp3, wav, m4a, flac, ogg or opus, at the quality you choose, ready for any platform or editor.

Do a whole session at once

Drop in every file from a recording day and clean them all in one go.

Results are saved next to your originals or in a folder you pick, with names you choose, like interview-clean.wav.

Made for creators who care how they sound

  • Podcasters. Clean up every guest’s mic, even remote guests on laptops, and bring each episode to podcast loudness before you publish.
  • Voiceover artists. Record a clean take in a spare room, not just a booth, and send clients files in exactly the format they asked for.
  • Audiobook narrators. Take the room noise out of long chapters, keep the volume even across sessions, and split the book into chapter files.
  • YouTubers and video creators. Fix noisy voiceovers and on-location audio before it goes into your editor.
  • Musicians. Trim demos, split live sets into songs, level tracks for streaming, and convert to whatever a platform or bandmate needs.
  • Teachers, students and journalists. Clean up lectures, interviews and voice notes recorded in busy rooms.

What creators say

Most tools price out independent creators with crazy monthly fees. Getting powerful audio cleaning, noise sliders, and split/cut tools that run 100% privately on my own computer is a massive win.

Saving around four times what I used to pay for Hush. Handling my weekly batch of episodes locally on my Mac offline is a huge upgrade.

Why creators switch to Gleam Audio

  • Your audio stays yours. Everything runs on your computer. Nothing is uploaded, so unreleased episodes and client work stay private, and it works with no internet at all.
  • No subscription. Free for personal use. For work, buy a license once, at a price you choose.
  • Nothing else to install. Everything it needs comes inside the app.
  • Works on any computer. The same app on Mac, Windows and Linux.
  • Never ruins a file. Every result is a new file, and your originals stay exactly as they were.

Questions

Is it really free? Yes. Every feature is free for personal use, up to 20 files a week. You only need a license for paid work.

What counts as commercial use? Anything you’re paid for or that earns money: client projects, a sponsored or monetised podcast or channel, or audio for a product. Your own recordings and hobby projects are personal use.

Do I need an internet connection? No. Gleam Audio works fully offline. It goes online only to check for updates and your license.

Is my audio uploaded anywhere? Never. All the work happens on your computer.

Which files does it work with? All the common ones, including wav, mp3, m4a, flac, ogg and opus, and it can save to any of them.

Will it run on my computer? It runs on macOS, on Apple silicon and Intel, on Windows and on Linux.

Can I move my license to a new computer? Yes. Remove it from the old computer in the app, then activate it on the new one. How licenses work

  • A play button and seek bar on every file.
  • Progress on each file, and Stop that ends a job right away.

Every change is in the 1.1.0 release notes.

  • A Help menu links to these docs, and the app has a new icon.

Fixed

  • Windows now finds ffmpeg once it is installed.
